Africa MissionsAfrica is a place SBC is committed to serving. In the summer of 2007 we sent out our first team to Tanzania - this got the ball rolling and in the summer of 2009 we had over 20 people make the journey to the Kajiado District of Kenya. We have tag teamed with a great organization called The Water School - they are committed to get clean water solutions to the developing world. It has been a pleasure to partner with this team and support them, not only financially, but during our missions trips.
In the summer of 2009 our team helped build over 200 SODIS tables - these tables are made from wood and corrogated metal and when plastic bottles of water are placed on them for approximately one day, the solar rays dissinfect the polluted water. This means that hundreds and hundreds of people are now going to have clean drinking water! Clean water affects the communities in so many ways: without being stricken by what we would call basic diseases, like dysentry, kids can go to school and learn skills to better prepare them to help work and provide for their families. We are excited to see how this ministry grows in the near future AND excited to be sending more teams to help serve. Interested?
