Who said 13 is an unlucky number, surely not the family who will be moving out of the abandoned school bus to move into their new home (the 13th to be built by SBC teams) currently under construction by our youth and leaders in Vicente Guerrero, Mexico. Local

The vision of SBC is to share Christ's love in this city.   We are seeking to engage the local community in ways that are practical and relevant and that serve the common good.  In short we want to be good neighbors, employees, employers, coaches, and friends etc.  We want to make a difference in practical and tangible ways wherever we are--sharing God's love in both word and deed.

Global

At Saanich we are also committed to making a difference globally. We have groups of people that go to different parts of the world to help in practical ways (ie. house building/ language work/ career development etc.), sharing God's love in both word and deed.

Short-term missions trips

Mexico: we have built 12 homes in Mexico over the last few years.  It has been exciting to see all that God has done as we have gone down to Vicente Guerrero year after year.  There are teams that go twice a year to do the house builds, spring and summer.  Interested? contact the church office.  ph 744-2020, email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Africa:  In July '07 we made our inaugural trip to Tanzania.  The trip was an overwhelming success and the excitement of the team upon return has spread throughout the church. We continue to look at ways in which we can assist the African nation. One way is to bring hope through clean drinking water. During Christmas Eve services we took up an offering that totaled $35,300 that was forwarded to the WaterScH2ool for a clean water program already established in Kenya. A second way was to teach the village women a skill such as sewing. This will enable them to produce items for sale in the local marketplace. Recent donations through daffodil sales raised enough money to send 3 step sewing machines to the village in Tanzania in which they visited. We are currently looking at a return trip in the summer of '09. Join us, as we make a God honouring difference globally.
