Follow JesusYou and I were created to have a relationship with God. Like human relationships, there are times where distance creeps in, we say things we shouldn’t, or we neglect important things. There are things that need to be dealt with in order for the relationship to be restored. The same is true with a relationship with God. We have neglected some things, we have done some things that have caused our relationship to be broken. The Bible calls those things sin, and it goes on to say that if this sin is not dealt with we will live separate from God. (Romans 3:23; 6:23) In order to restore our relationship with God, we need to personally accept God’s offer of reconciliation. The Bible talks in terms of repenting, turning, and personally choosing to follow Jesus with your whole life. (Mark 1:15) We need to understand that this restored relationship with God is a gift from Him. I think if we are honest with ourselves, we understand the distance between ourselves and God, and we know we fall short in some way. However, we go about trying to close that distance in our own way, from achievements, to doing enough good in order to outweigh the bad, to following all the rules(religion), only to feel frustration and a dissatisfaction no matter how hard we try. (Ephesians 2:8,9) If your desire is to reconnect with God, to choose to follow Him and live in relationship with Him, then you need to talk(pray) to him. Let Him know of your choice to receive His offer of forgiveness for your short comings, and let Him know of your choice to follow Him with all of your life. So now what?
