Local MissionsThe vision of SBC is to share Christ's love in this city. We are seeking to engage the local community in ways that are practical and relevant and that serve the common good. In short we want to be good neighbours, employees, employers, coaches, and friends etc. We want to make a difference in practical and tangible ways wherever we are--sharing God's love in both word and deed. This fall has seen SBC partner with the District of Saanich and the Capital Regional District to pull off our first "Serve the City Day." June 5th, 2010 will be a great chance to build on that foundation. Highlights from September 2009's Serve the City Project:
The Langford Food Bank is another place we have teamed up with. This past fall we took on the challenge to raise as much food as possible for them in their post-Thanksgiving weeks. We filled two vans full of non-perishable food and they were beyond excited to see it! Our youth also head downtown and tag team with the Sanctuary Youth Centre. Not only do the youth work with youth on the streets by hanging out with them, but they also help by bringing food, clothing and conversation to those in need.
