How did your hope in Christ increase this past week?   

 

Read 1 Peter 1:1-2.  What stands out to you about how Peter identifies the Christians who will read his letter?  How do you define the word “chosen?”  Why are the trinitarian identifiers liberating? 

 

Read verse 3-8.  How would you describe “living hope?”  What role does faith play in hope, according to this passage?  How should hope inform our suffering?  

  

Read verse 5-9.  What are the promises in these verses?  How are these promises what people in our community are desperate for?  How do you recognize the need for hope within the lives of your family, neighbours, or coworkers? 

 

Where has God “deployed” you?  What do you need to be “activated,” in order to be an influence?  Spend some time praying that God would establish you again in His grace, and give you what you need in order to be freed from the trapping of the culture while remaining an influencer of it.
