We, as a church, believe that we can make the greatest impact through relationships and we are starting in our neighbourhoods. This can be our physical neighbours who live next door or the people we live in community with. Our goal is to make a point of opening our eyes to the needs of those around us and helping where we can.
The Adopt-Your-Block initiative means that we take the time to get to know those around us and to prayerfully seek out opportunities where we can help. We commit to praying for our neighbours and partnering with God in what he is already doing.
If you're unsure of how to get started, here are some simple steps:
- Notice the people in your neighbourhood and where they live. Walk the block and pray for the people in each house.
- Casually meet them and if the oppotunity arises, introduce yourself, find out their names, and learn about them. Have a conversation. Try to listen to what the needs are in your area.
- Invite people over for dinner or go out for coffee. Once you start meeting people, you'll see opportunities to help out in little ways.
