This past Thanksgiving, SBC partnered with three local churches, Friendship Community Church, The Open Gate, and The Rock, to send down a team of 25 people to build a two-room school in an effort to relieve an overcrowded school. They went, not only prepared with materials to build, but with enough school supplies to support the 125 students.
On their final day, the team, along with Congressman Marco Novelo and his wife, attended a ribbon cutting for the school they had just built. It was there that they learned that one room would be used as a classroom while the other would be used as a library. The library was then dedicated Biblioteca Sue Card in memory of our cherished missionary Sue Card who passed away last spring.
The week wasn’t all about the school, however. While they were there, they had the opportunity to visit and provide support to a local Campo (a dilapidated housing community that farmers provide for their workers), tour the local orphange as well as the current and future location of the New Beginnings transition house, and attend two worship services at Calvary Chapel and The Big O Mission Church.
This trip was about 25 people living out Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
